always a bridesmaid, never a bride

Its Friday. Again. God knows how the week went by. Plus its already April, can’t imagine a quarter of the year has gone by just like that. Sigh.

NB and I were at the newly opened (not so new perhaps, opened Oct last year) The Pavillion Mall in Bukit bintang last Saturday. I loved it. was huge and carries quite a few brand name. The food court on the ground floor was nice and different from the normal ones we see here in Malaysia. My damage weren't that bad either. Managed to keep it down. but will surely go again soon. didn't get to see all since it was getting late and we were both tired. The alley by the side of the mall that takes you into BB road is a nice place to chill out. transparent roof, open air like cosy ambiance.

And this week hasn't been that bad. Nothing to shout about either. started work on this new project, which will be keeping me occupied for the next few weeks. LTZ is down. so catching up with her later and it might be work for most of the weekend too. The Celine Di0n world tour concert supposed to happen next tuesday has been postponed to the following Sunday, and i wont be able to make it now. The weekend Bangkok trip planned with NB had to be cancelled too. the weekend tickets for we will rock you musical in Spore is too expensive to make a trip down there worth while. you see the pattern?

Anyway, I watched the much awaited 27 dresses 2 weeks ago and as usual I should blog about a movie I enjoyed. a bit late but nevertheless. I was supposed to watch it with the girls (N, S, S & C) but kind of ditched them and went for it with SS & her sister in Seremban the weekend before. knew for some reason I won't mind doing it again with them later.. hehe.

Being a big fan of chick flicks, it was good. I like Katherine Heigle. Her last Knocked up was pretty good (minus the ugly face Ben Stone she starred against) love her character in Greys too (after my McDreamy of course!). she has done it again with 27 Dresses..

The movie has "Wedding" written all over it. Katherine portrays, Jane a character of an old-school wedding-obsessed, always and always a bridesmaid (by choice) never a bride kind of girl. In love with her boss and has a wedding planned in her head.. sleeps under piles of wedding magazines & wedding journals etc.. then her very hot sister arrives in town and her boss falls in love with her and they get engaged and the fun starts!

The more interesting character in here is the hero. The one who’ll eventually change Jane’s bridesmaid status for good. James Marsden! with whom I’m so smitten over now. He has done a few other movies, but none outstanding or in a lead role. he has got a devilish face with one of the most gorgeous smile ever! James plays Kevin in this movie, a journalist for wedding column of a paper who discovers Jane’s wedding craze and decides to write about it. finds her diary, kind of stalks her, annoys her by acting macho saying the whole wedding sentiment is much overrated and all.. and then turns out to be her favourire weding columnist.. rest of course is guessable. He falls for her and blah blah blah..

Three scenes I like most; opening of the movie where Jane shuttles back and forth in a cab between two weddings where she was the bridesmaid, even helping the brides lift their dresses while they pee and eagerly aiming for the wedding bouquet at the end (misses it of course); Then the part she show casts her 27 bridesmaid dresses, some ridiculously ugly! with a passion; the third where they both do the drunken sing-song in the bar and he gives out his 'soft' side to the sentiments of marriage and they both discover that the look on the groom's face when he first sees his bride is the best part of a wedding..

Ultimately, 27 Dresses is just another classic romantic comedy with a predictable ending and not much of a storyline but meets the requirement of a chick-flick very well.. funny, feel good with dashing casts. definitely worth while if you are a fan of chick flicks like me.. or for the gorgeous Katherine & James at least..

Saw Katherine in martha's Show today. She looked so like every girl-next-door u could imagine. Her mum was soooo shy of camera and audience.
