cool masala

The sales team are having their regional meeting in our office. So free lunch for all. authentic msian cuisine. Satay, Nasi Lemak, deserts plus wine (not quite msian this one..). am blardy stuffed and dozing off. blame it on Sivaji, I finally watched the movie last nite. Midnight show on a weekday, when I had a 630 conference call this morning. shouldn't I qualify for a die hard fan? bleh.

reviewing the movie can be a bit daunting. for all the hype and googah about the movie. It is arguably the most expensive and biggest movie in Tamil movie industry and 2nd in India after Devdas. well, one cannot expect any lesser from a Shankar-Rajni combo, rite? The movie, typical tamil cliché, has a lot of flaws. as usual. But none the less, there were plus, which certainly made the 190 min show bearable, especially a midnite one.

The songs and sets that were made for each one of the songs were amazing(well, it better be, for the $$ spent). loved the first song. so colourful and lively. Nayantara looked damn good (anyone know her weigh-loss secret?). Shreya was stunning. her cute butt, well flaunted thru the amazing costumes. Vivek's comedy was cool. and then, The Boss himself. he appeared much younger (thanks to make-up artists and botox i guess) but just full of energy and keyed up all throughout. Though I found the stunts a bit overdosed, the flashy costumes, flaming rages and roars, was dying to be revived, even for the last bashing of the villain. Spiderman meets Matrix along with Batman, bumped into Crouching Tiger in Singara Chennai! hah.

either way, i'm pretty sure the hype and waves of the movie have very less to do with the story or the theme. Its got Superstar Rajini written all over. and maybe a bit of Shankar's BIG budget.. so, go watch it if you haven't.
