the two rather

eventful week... all started the saturday before last when we were headed to Terenganu our plant in Teluk kalung for the project work. We as in the IT internal auditors, SS & Z who were down from Brussels for the project and the three operational auditors who co-incidentally had to be there. We decided to leave a day earlier to spend time in Cherating, to give SS a taste of East Coast beach (well, not the best one of course).. we left KL around 10-ish that morning and stopped for seafood lunch in Kuantan town then arrived Legend, the hotel we were booked for that evening. Probably one of the worst hotels i've ever stayed (in business trips of course). the toilets were awful and lucky it was only for a day. We checked out and left for office early Sunday morning and headed for office. First time in my life i worked till 9pm in a suit (Terenganu is one of the two states in Malaysia that works on Sunday and have their day off on Friday).. the rest of the week was perhaps one of the most hectic in the last 10 months in the firm. The aim was to get as much done before SS & Z head back to Brussels, so we basically worked day and night. We were up for 55 hours one of the days. Lived on Redbull and Nescafe. But despite all that, it was fun. We stayed at the sea facing room in Awana Kijal and went to the beach at 630 in the morning.. the water was so calm and serene that the ten minutes in the water was close to a weekend break in the beach. damn good...

We left TK on Wednesday evening around 7-ish and got to KL around 10-ish. I decided to stay in KL so we can get as much done, plus we had a 130AM con call with our bosses in US & Brussels. I checked in Le Meridian in KL Sentral. I've never stayed at the hotel since KL Hilton is just next door and is natuarally the first option. There were no rooms available there at short notice that A booked me there. The room itself was moderately sized but it had this huge balcony that made IT. Its was spectacular! so the three of us ended up working in my room that night. The other two were staying next door in KL Hilton where we worked from the the whole of next day. good things is that we managed to finish most of what we planned. very glad and happy, Z suggested massage as a reward for all the hard work and sleepless nights... I usually got to Thai Odessey who are really good but the place Z took us to was far better. heavenly. The masseuse was so good, at times painful but ultimately fabulous. If ever there was time to ruminate over stress, its definitely a massage. 90 remarkable minutes to make everything less stressful.

Despite the hecticness and long hours with the project, I actually did really enjoy it. It was like my audit life revisited. But i've got this other stuff going on at work with the new regional director at the moment that could seriously do with some stress reliever.. The other reason for the rush with the work was to get a time off on Friday too.. SS & Z wanted to do some shopping before they headed back the next day and I was more than happy to indulge.

Friday was also N's birthday. Had dinner with her and then headed for drinks with the other colleagues. was past midniht by the time i got back home. Following day was N's surprised BBQ party at mine. woke up early to do shopping and prep. It went very well and thanks to all that turned up. Not a very big group but was fun. believe N had fun too.

And the next day was even more or perhaps the most eventful. God knows what got into me when i agreed to the 'Jungle trekking' stuff Nat suggested. Guess it was the i-should-more-adventurous me did it as a sour of the moment thing. heck it… but so little did I know about what I was getting into. trust me, Skytrex was far from just jungle trekking.. jungle trekking on top of the tree, so to speak. taking you from tree to tree thru a series of aerial trails suspended quite high above grounds.. I was sort of forced to come face to face to one of my phobias: heights.
It was a beautiful Sunday morning when I set out seremban around 7-ish. apart from the Sunday morning thats meant for sleeping in, a week long of work and the party night before didn't make it any easier to get my ass up that morning. but I did and the adventure began…

first, the harnesses. most important. I made sure it was tight enough. i'm too young to die plus this certainly isn't my version of a fashionable death! We started with a tutorial with the dos and donts and a trial on a mini version of the actual stint, which was bad enough. I almost gave up at that point itself, wondered if I could just climb down and regard the 35bucks a free gift to the operator. what a chicken! but no, i didnt. blame it on dignity (yea right!)

we were about 13 of us all together. friends of S the organiser who is Nat's colleague and the 5 of us gals. there were 23 obstacle that lasted around 2.5 hours. (should have been 2) though I believe CC & SC (the Lara crofts) managed to do it in just an hour. They had two 'chicken' exits along the way. me, N & SS took one of it to escape one of the difficult route and i was so freaking tempted to take both. the second one was to merely avoid the spiderweb stuff. the mini version of it at the beginning was bad enough. but thanks for the moral support from the gals and Mr talk-so-much's seven margaritas (that never came ) i went thru with it. but I damn damn hated it - you sort of have to swing on a rope and as land near the net, stretch our arms out to cling onto net and make your way thru to the platform. (see picture for an idea) I could feel and hear my arm pop (damn for not the lack of exercising!) as i struggled to make my way thru. the ache lasted for days! if ever i do this again, i'm skipping this for sure. (wtf! next time?)

the Flying fox was the best. scary but still good. the beginning when you have to let yourself off the platfrm is a bit difficult. its smooth sailing after that. There were a few and the last long flying fox obstacle was freaking awesome. especially when you know its the last. Look at my expression below that sort of speaks a million words! When we were done, there was this rush of relief and satisfaction of having done the entire think. I was so damn proud of myself for getting thru what I thought was scary and near impossible to do. so, despite the initial urge to kill Nat for getting me into this, I did have a good time. Thansk sweetie!

all exhausted, filthy and starving, we still managed a group picture. how can you not kodak-moment something like this!? after working our asses out on a Sunday morning at 38 degrees scorching hot sun!? :) anyway, it was much needed food and drinks after that. went to WIP in BSC where the guys made the most of the 39.90 beer buffet (which wont be surprised if they decide to take the offer away).. we were there till 7 or so. end of the day, apart from the thrill we all made new friends... talking about paintball next.. (when did i get so outdoor eh?)
